Ways to Help
Membership dues are essential for the Friends to financially assist the Roxbury Library, but money isn’t everything. There are more ways to lend your time and talents to help the Friends and in turn, help our beloved library. Interested? Submit the form and one of us will reach out to chat. We can’t wait to get to know you!!!
The library accepts book donations year round and we need daily help sorting through them, organizing, restocking the bookstore shelves, and generally making the store look spick and span!
We hold a handful of major sales throughout the year at special library & community events:
- Arts Fest in April
- Lake Hopatcong Block Party in May
- Pride in June
- Olde Suckasunny Day in September
- Home for the Holidays in December
We hold major collection periods for these sales which require a lot of manpower sorting, organizing, transporting books, etc. We also need people to actually man the sales physically, collect money, organize and shift books, and set up / clean up.
The Friends are starting a small, self-serve cafe but hey...this could grow into something big! We would love volunteers to help with simple daily inventory and cleaning of the machine. This is a self-serve machine not a bean-to-cup so the daily maintenance is minimal.
The Library of Things is expanding into loaning various kits with many components. These kits need an extra level of maintenance, resupply, & inventory. The library could use the help of volunteers to assist with this.
Good with social media and need an outlet? Well, we can definitely use your help. The Friends have a Facebook & Instagram account but none of us are cool enough for TikTok. Are you? Let's get famous!
The Friends hold a Paint & Sip Class every month, open to all, that raises funds for the library. After instructor and material fees, all proceeds are general donations that fund library programs and initiatives. These classes rely on helpers to set up, clean up, and provide assistance to artists suck as refilling water, paint, etc. Classes are held one Friday a month from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and volunteers are generally needed for the duration and a half hour before and after.
The Friends are only as effective as the talented people willing to make it a success. We embrace new ideas that could make our library even better!
